1. Local file processing

When you choose a file from your device, TheMarkdowner processes it inside your browser with client-side JavaScript. Local document conversion does not upload the file to a conversion server.

2. Public URL conversion and contact messages

The public URL converter works differently from local file conversion. It uses a public reader proxy to retrieve public webpages that browsers cannot fetch directly. Do not enter private, authenticated, intranet, or unpublished URLs. Messages sent through the contact form are delivered by Web3Forms and therefore leave your browser.

3. Analytics and advertising

Google Analytics helps us understand page views, device types, and general site usage. Google AdSense may use cookies or similar technologies when ads are enabled. These services do not receive the contents of files you convert locally.

4. Conversion history and local drafts

We cannot read or log the contents of files that never leave your browser. Features such as recent conversions and draft restore use storage in your browser on your device. You can clear that browser data at any time.

5. Open source libraries

Libraries such as PDF.js and Mammoth.js run in the browser to read supported files. They are used for local processing and are not configured to send document contents elsewhere.
