1. Local Processing

TheMarkdowner is built on a fundamental principle: your data is your data. When you use our tool to convert documents (PDF, DOCX, HTML, CSV, TXT) to Markdown, the conversion process happens entirely within your web browser using client-side JavaScript.

2. No File Uploads

Unlike other converter services, we do not upload your files to our servers. In fact, we do not even have a backend server for processing files. Once you drop a file into the converter, it is read locally by your device's browser, processed, and offered for download immediately.

3. Analytics and Advertising

We use Google Analytics to collect aggregated, anonymous site usage data (such as page views, session duration, and device type) to help us understand user traffic and improve the website. Additionally, we use Google AdSense to display relevant advertisements, which may use cookies to serve ads based on your visits to this and other websites. No personal documents or file contents are ever tracked or analyzed.

4. Log Data

Since your files are never transmitted to our servers, we have no access to them, and we keep no logs of what you convert, when you convert it, or the contents of those files.

5. Open Source Libraries

We utilize trusted open-source libraries (such as PDF.js and Mammoth.js) running securely within your browser's sandbox environment. These libraries do not phone home or transmit data.
